Federal Court Won’t Allow Gov’t To Slide

A federal appeals court has intervened in the Health and Human Services mandate, effectively holding the government’s “feet to the fire” for promises it has made.

The controversial HHS mandate requires free coverage of contraception, abortion-causing drugs, and sterilization in ObamaCare health insurance coverage. Belmont Abbey College and Wheaton College sued, arguing the mandate violates their religious beliefs. Both schools are represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.

Becket Fund general counsel Kyle Duncan tells OneNewsNow that lower courts dismissed the lawsuits, noting that the government promised to fix the mandate.

“The courts essentially told the colleges You just have to wait and trust the government,” Duncan explains. “Well, the DC Circuit reversed that decision and reinstated the cases and said, No, there is jurisdiction over these.”
