According to a recent Pew Institute report, in 2007 there were a record 4,316,233 births in the United States. In 2012, the number of births was 4,007,000, the lowest number since 1998.
“Analysts say that the birthrate is dictated by the economy.” In the circles I frequent, young families are having lots of babies. I went to one of my favorite pizza restaurants this past week. There were babies everywhere. There were babies by the dozens. I am not exaggerating.
Our fifth grandchild was born in late June. We’re expecting our sixth sometime early in 2014.
