Whose game plan do you follow?

by Wade Wacker, Reasons for Hope

Colossians 2:6-10 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,  rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.  Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.  For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;  and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Oh Paul, how true.  Could he have said it any better for today’s world?    Man has created their own reality by taking what they have learned as science or principle, and then defining it to fit their own needs, conforming it to their own traditions, and creating a philosophy that becomes fact in their own world.

You have to marvel at the game plan of the devil.  He had to convince people to stay away from the Word.  If he could get people away from the Word, he could keep them from building a relationship with Jesus and therefore create an environment that would cause them to define their own guidelines.  A shock and awe approach was not going to work; man’s cognitive process is too good for that.

The devil had to take a long steady, consistent approach to turn people from the truth of God and indoctrinate their minds to believe philosophy and empty deceit. How did he do it?

Time and Training

He infiltrated the places where people spend most of their time— the schools, the workplace, and recreational activities like TV, movies and social gatherings.  He started the training thousands of years ago in the Garden and he continues it today — and he began with subtlety and empty deceit.

2 Corinthians 11:3  But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Throughout the centuries Satan has continued his game plan, and in the 20th century he escalated his methods of subtle deceit to the point where we are now, and we can clearly see the results of his work in education and media.

Education – In the 1920’s many states passed laws against teaching evolution.  In 2013 states have passed laws against teaching creation.  Time and Training.  You cannot have evolution and God — the devil knows that. He knows that a belief in evolution will ultimately breakdown the reason for God and the desire to read His Word.  So in 1925 when John T. Scopes started teaching evolution in his class, the process of indoctrination began.  Now, 88 years later in 2013, from the time kids enter kindergarten until the day they graduate, they are taught evolution.  The churches get their chance one day a week to teach the truth.  Five days versus one day.  Is it surprising that our society has accepted the philosophy of evolution as fact?
