Luke 12:54-56 Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. As a coach, one must teach, positively motivate, and yes, sometimes deliver a good old-fashioned butt chewin’. A coach knows what it takes to achieve success and the work and sacrifices it takes to accomplish the game plan that has been set before the team. A coach must focus on teaching and motivating the team, with a zeal for the ultimate goal always in his/her heart and mind. If the vision of the ultimate goal is being lost, the coach might react very passionately to get the team to understand “do you realize what you are losing?”
Passion and zeal is just another of the awe-inspiring traits about Jesus. He was human, just like us, so when He saw people continually not getting it, He showed His zeal and firmly told them to “Wake-Up”.
As one dives into reading the Word of God, it is interesting to note those three coaching elements. The Bible has many great teachings, many motivational stories and yes, many butt-chewin’s. In Luke 12:54-56 Jesus is delivering one of those stern messages. We would call them rebukes — an expression of sharp disapproval or criticism intended to teach and correct. There are some very good examples in the Bible given by God Himself
Job 38 and 39 — God sternly questions Job asking almost 50 questions, none of which Job can answer.
